Coaching and Mentoring
Life Skills 101 is a 13-week comprehensive hybrid mentoring/coaching program offered by Character Arc.
Students are paired with an industry professional who shares their experience and teaches them the skills important for success in college and beyond.
Coaching engagement is divided into three areas below.
Mentor coaches receive the Character Skills Assessment scores of each student, which highlight the strengths and areas of improvement for the student as compared to their peers.
Coaches help build a strategic plan with the student to build 2-3 critical skills.
Coaches help students learn about personal finance and help them make responsible financial decisions.
Coaches help students develop financial goals, build a financial plan to meet the goals, and learn financial concepts.
The final 2-3 weeks of the coaching mentorship engagement are dedicated to learning networking skills.
Coaches help students build a LinkedIn page based on their industry knowledge, teach how to reach out to mentors, build interviewing skills, and help look for internships.
Our coaching/mentoring engagement is usually 13 weeks. About the length of a semester.
No, all coaching and mentoring sessions are online for the safety of the student and the mentors.
Yes, the program is customizable to meet your institution’s unique needs. We can build a curriculum for Character Skills, Personal Finance, and Career Skills separately or any combination of the three.
Our mentors are industry professionals who are currently working and excelling at their careers. Mentors utilize their industry knowledge to help students prepare for life after graduation.
Our sessions are fully customizable. Our mentors can provide one on one coaching or can see small groups of students (up to 5 students per session).
We recommend that the students meet with the mentors in their first or second year. Meeting and learning from mentors early in the academic career can boost retention and chances of on-time graduation.
